Review: The Fill-in Boyfriend by Kasie West

Hello everybody! This post has been thrown back on my to-do list for so long so today I finally decided to make up some time for it. I finished this book approximately 3 days ago and I loved it. It was such a fun contemporary to bring me out of my reading slump. Since early February, I have been going through a HUGE reading slump and I was resorting to Wattpad for my reading. Now, I can actually read a normal, physical book. Reading slumps are very nerve-wracking since you dont know when you will ever read a normal book again. But, you just have to troop through them and hope for the best. Now that I’m out of my big reading slump, I have to tackle my HUGE TBR in hopes of finishing it before July!

Now, to stop my ranting about book slumps, let’s get into this review!

*My Thoughts*

This book was such a fun contemporary that was easily able to stop my reading slump. It has so many accurate parts of high school life that made me quite interested in what high school will be like for me. If anything, I am so hoping I do not fall in the role of Gia Montgomery. She was basically your average popular kid and she was even smart. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to be both popular and smart but, Gia lied. A lot. In the end, everything  turned around on her. Her happy, ordinary life turned into one filled with friends who didn’t think they could trust her. the only people she could trust were Bec and Hayden. Two people she would’ve never thought about hanging out with before prom night.

Hayden, charming as ever, was one out of two people that knew about Gia’s lie. Her fill-in boyfriend. His sister Bec was the only other person who knew. Gia never thought she could trust Bec with a lie;  even become friends with her. But things change. Bec turned into Gia’s go-to friend and Hayden became Gia’s dreamy boyfriend.

This book made me smile, laugh and even cry. When you find a book that does that, you know it’s a good one. i loved readng about how Gia tried fixing things. Who knew that throwing baseballs at Will’s house could fix every problem. Well, not the friendship problems but the mental problems. Have a breakdown. Go throw some baseballs. Stressed out. Go throw some baseballs. Somehow it worked for Bec, Hayden and Gia.

By the end of the book, the three of them helped each other fix their problems, therefore becoming one big family.

I can’t wait to read another one of Kasie’s books. They are such fun and entertaining books that you cant miss.
